Owner-operator here, 7 years running routes in the Northeast. Alliance's "real-time" tracking is the worst - on a recent reefer run the app showed my trailer at the DC for hours while I was still two exits away, which cost me a $350 detention fee and a missed delivery window. Support sent canned responses, no ownership, and i spent the next day on hold dealing with angry calls; not worth the headache.

They squeezed better parcel rates and the cleaer invoicing meant I could see exactly where the savings came from, that one thing made the fees feel worth it. I've been an owner-operator 7 years in the Northeast, and for me the price-to-value here is right on - saved me time and cash, which is rare.
I've used it for about nine months. The mobile app's POD photo upload is stupid fast and even in the middle of nowhere the pic queues and syncs to dispatch in under two minutes - after 7 years on the road that little sanity-saver actually matters. Saved me a bunch of paperwork and time, app's great tho it sometimes pops extra alerts, but definatley worth it.
Didn't expect the quote to jump that high for what was basically a standard freight move - ended up paying more than the usual carriers. After 7 years running my own rigs in the Northeast I know what a fair rate looks like, and Yusen was reliable enough but not worth the extra 15-20% they overchaged. Maybe if you're hauling time-critical medical stuff it's worthit, but for my day-to-day loads I'm still on the fence.
...their online tracking is weird: it shows hub-level scans, pics of containers and crazy timestamps, then randomly freezes and spits out an ETA that's off by days. I run tight lanes in the Northeast so that mismatch makes me flip between trusting the portal and calling the agent - it's realy useful when it works but man it's flaky. Support fixed one issue after 48hrs, left me impressed with the data but annoyed at the unreliability, kinda torn.
Bottom line: ITS Logistics actually shows up when they say they will - night and day from the broker I used before who was always hours late. They put me on with one dispatcher who answers texts in 10 minutes, and that single point-of-contact cut my port wait time and detention fees a TON, my days arent a constant scramble anymore. Pricier on a couple lanes but the reliability was worth the switch for me.
What I liked most was RedwoodConnect - the live tracking actually let me plan deadhead instead of sittin' around like with the last broker I used. Their portal shows real ETAs and the reps actually pick up when things go sideways, total night-and-day. Been runnin' the Northeast for 7 years and this is the smoothest lane i've had in a while, definately worth the switch.
On a snowy Tuesday on I-84 my truck's APU died and I was staring at a frozen load and a tight appointment. Priority1 found a local carrier in under an hour, rebooked the run and texed me constant updates so I didn't have to chase anyone - made a painful day way easier. Been an owner-operator 7 years in the Northeast and that kinda quick fix is what keeps me rolling.
Bottom line: the ALC app actually saves me time on paperwork. The photo/POD upload posts almost instantly so I don't haveto call ops after a drop - been running in the NE for 7 years and that alone pays for the app. It does glitch on older phones and the map can be slow in really rural spots, but for day-to-day runs it's solid, so 4 stars.
Customer support is the main thing - sometimes they're awesome, other times they straight up disappear. I'm an owner-operator in the Northeast with 7 years under my belt and on an AOG run their rep pulled thru fast, but a simple customs question took three days and two escalations, super frustating. PEAK tracking helps a bit and the portal works, tho it's clunky; i'll keep using them for urgent jobs but expect to babysit support tickets.
after years of my old local broker dragging shipments at customs, FedEx Logistics cleared a container in about half the time - no mysterious fees and they actually answered when I called. The one thing that sold me was their customs guy calling to fix a paperwork mixup instead of burying it in email; huge diference for a small owner-operator like me. Switched for good, no more late-night panic calls.
Bottom line: their support actually picks up and gets stuff fixed fast. Had a weird cross-border hold late Friday - i'm a one-truck owner-operator up in the Northeast - and they jumped on the phone with the customs broker and cleared the load before detention fees started piling up. Mobile portal froze once and the app is a bit clunky, but the reps were so helpfull that it didn't even matter.
