Yesterday the Kerry Logistics (KLN) app marked a pallet delivered and auto-billed me before the consignee even opened the door - had to call ops and hop back in the truck to sort it out. Uploading PODs is fast and the in-app chat actually helps, but the location tracking lags and notifcations come 10-30 mins late which kills my ETA credibility here in the Southwest and I'm only a year into running my own rig. Torn between liking the convenience and hating the random glitches, so 3/5 from me.

Forward Air showed up on time, no drama, actually got it there at 5:45 which saved me a huge headache; I'm an owner-operator in the Southwest so that kind of dependability means paychecks stay steady. Tiny gripe: their app could use better ETA updates, but they did what mattered - got the freight where it needed to go, didnt have to babysit it.
got a push saying customs cleared and it saved me from sittin at the dock for two hours. The mobile app's ETA updates actually match reality, which for a single-driver in the Southwest lets me tweak routes and grab a quick shower at home - little UI glitch here and there but the alerts are bang-on, made my week. Feels snappy and easy to use tho.
One year into running my own truck in the Southwest I dumped a flaky local broker and tried Flexport. The live tracking map and push alerts are night-and-day - used to be on the phone all day chasing ETAs, now I check the app and actually get sleep, its updates are way more reliable (definately less stress). Support answered one weird customs question fast so I wasn't stuck, which was a nice surprise.
Bottom line: their live tracking actually works - pins and ETA updates matched what I saw on the road. Been driving about a year in the Southwest and that portal saving me an extra hour at a drop (no pointless waiting) was everything; cut down idle time and gas. App can be a bit clunky on an old phone but the frequent pings and spot-on notifications sold me, realy solid.
The main thing I liked was they actually showed up when they said they would. Had a last-minute reroute on a hot week in Arizona and the driver plus Mode's app kept me updatd - load tracking was spot on, made the day way less stressful. Knocked off a star cuz support can be slow to answer, but it worked when I needed it.
One year in and running routes across the Southwest, I hit a last-minute customs hold that would've blown my delivery window. AIT's customer service rep stayed on the phone with me for over an hour, walked through the paperwork step by step and the truck was cleared - they basically saved my week. Rep even answred texts at 9pm and didnt act like a bot, made me feel like someone actually cared.
...when my ECU light popped and I thought the whole load was toast. Landstar's agent somehow lined up a hot-shot swap and had me off the dock with a replacement in under an hour - saved the delivery and my wallet. After about a year running in the Southwest i'm stickin with them, tho the app hiccupped and double-pinged the gps once, not a dealbreaker.
Owner-operator in the Southwest, only a year in, I jumped to GEODIS thinking their tech would make life easier - big mistake. Their portal looked fancy but gave wrong ETAs, no real-time updates, and I got charged detntion after sitting 3 hours at the dock because nobody confirmed the slot - cost me a day of pay and fuel. My old regional broker would just text and pay quick; this felt like endless hold muisc and paperwork, so 2/5 from me.
When my load got rerouted last minute because the port shut, CEVA's support actually saved my butt. One rep (Maria) stayed on the line for over an hour, sorted new docs, rebooked a truck and even called teh consignee - super patient and didn't pass me around. Been an owner-operator for a year out here in the Southwest, and that kind of hands-on follow-through mattered big time.
Man, switching to Penske was night-and-day from the last carrier I ran with - dispatch actually picks up and tells you what's next. I run routes in the Southwest and after a year of ghosted loads, having one person give me ETA updates made me way less stresed. Not perfect - billing's still slow sometmes - but that steady comms sold me, no more guessin' at my schedule.
