Mae Kris's review of McLeod Software

Bottom line: McLeod does the one thing that matters to me - it stays up and accurate when traffic, weather, or payroll deadlines hit. Last winter, in the middle of a Nor’easter that knocked out our office internet, the mobile check-ins and ETA updates kept flowing and dispatch kept moving; that kind of reliability stopped a small crisis from becoming a big one. With 28 years in trucking and a roughly 150-truck operation across the Northeast, I notice hiccups fast, and there haven’t been many. The thing that actually made me happy was the settlement batch that ran clean during a billing scramble - saved me a full day of rework. Support can be slow on non-urgent tickets, but when uptime is the priority McLeod delivers.

Thirty years in trucking and a 200-truck fleet in the Southwest taught me there's no room for IT hiccups. During a brutal holiday reroute weekend when partner systems were failing, McLeod processed every dispatch and EDI exchange without dropping a single load - that single streak of uptime saved payroll and kept customers from rerouting freight. Support was responsive, but it was the software holding steady under peak load that proved it would work when we needed it most.

Bottom line: McLeod turned a weekly invoicing headache into something we can finish in a day. Our previous setup - a messy mix of spreadsheets and a basic TMS - left invoices sitting for days because every exception needed manual checking. What really made me happy was the settlement automation: once rules are in place payables and receivables match up with far fewer human touches, so billing errors drop dramatically. Managing a 25-truck Midwest fleet for four years, that change improved cash flow and cut the number of driver calls about pay issues. The interface has a learning curve and support can be slow at times, but it’s miles ahead of what we were using before.

I've used McLeod Software for four years. The price is steep - license and module fees hit hard up front - but the faster settlement cycle dramatically reduced our outstanding recievables and literally paid for itself in about nine months for our 35-truck operation in the Southwest; that single outcome made the expense worthwile. Support can be slow on some specfic billing quirks, yet for the cashflow improvement alone it's been a sound investment.
