We had a single pallet crushed, ArcBest coodinated a replacement trailer, arranged a driver detour and completed claims paperwork electronically in under five hours - for a 35-truck fleet operating in the Southwest that was a massive relief. Dispatch stayed on the line the whole time and the driver they sent knew the route; small things like that made the difference.
I've run three trucks out of the Midwest for 22 years and thought I knew the payment drill. What really sank the deal with ArcBest was their glacial settlement - a couple of my loads sat 'under review' for nearly two weeks with CS giving different answers every call. That delay forced me to borrow to cover driver pay and fuel, cost me roughly $350 in factoring fees and a ton of stress, so I'll be steering clear unless they fix that payment mess.
Last winter my trailer axle snapped outside Spokane and my load was stranded on the shoulder until an ArcBest dispatcher called saying they'd reroute a pickup and had a driver there in under two hours. Out here in the Pacific Northwest, that kind of “someone actually calls and fixes it” energy is rare - they put the freight back on schedule and handled the billing without the usual paper chase. They paid me fast too, which turned a rough night into nothing more than a story.
