All 24 reviews →I liked the live ETA updates - when they actually update they cut down on calls - but the GPS pings are spotty and the app will lag, so I still rely on my old tracker for anything time-sensitive. After thirty years on the West Coast running two trucks, fewer interruptions is nice, but inconsistent location updates leave me torn about fully switching.
Last month, when a major receiver shut down unexpectedly and several loads were snarled on the dock, Trucker Tools kept live locations and automated check-ins flowing so we could see which trucks were idling and for how long. For our 250-truck operation in the Southwest with fifteen years of experience, the automated check-ins were the single feature that mattered - accurate timestamps and steady ETA updates let dispatchers stop chasing drivers by phone and reassign lanes more quickly. It is not flawless; occasional GPS gaps in very remote stretches remain, so I deduct one star, but when the disruption hit the app performed when we needed it.
