Twenty-five years on the road with three trucks in the fleet - rolling out of the Pacific Northwest on a foggy Friday - I pulled into the Forward Air terminal two hours behind schedule with a pallet of time-sensitive store displays and a hard airport cutoff. Their on-site rep called before I shut the engine, snagged a standby slot on a later flight, waved their dock crew over and had us airborne in under an hour; that one proactive call saved me detention and a frantic Monday scramble.
