On a tight schedule last spring we moved the dispatch workflow over to BlueShip TMS and I braced for weeks of pain. With four years managing a 25-truck fleet in the Midwest, I was pleasantly surprised that the onboarding rep got our historical rates imported overnight and helped us stand up the API connection without us having to rewrite everything. We did hit a snag with our oddly named lanes - the mapping tool didn’t catch our custom labels and it took a couple of phone calls to an engineer to get a quick script run - annoying but fixable. The thing that made me happiest was the rate-comparison screen: once those lanes were corrected it showed actual dollar differences per load immediately, which made carrier choices way easier. After a month live, setup time was much shorter than I expected and the team support during kickoff was the real differentiator.

When a loaded trailer was mistakenly routed toward Atlanta instead of Chattanooga, BlueShip's real-time tracking flagged the anomaly within minutes and we corrected course before the customer's delivery window closed. With 55 trucks and 12 years managing Southeast lanes, that instant alert and the clear location timeline let me call the driver, reverse the route, and avoid a detention charge. That single intervention paid for the platform many times over, so BlueShip remains the system I rely on for live visibility of critical loads.

I've used BlueShip TMS for about three years. Two months ago a high-priority produce run from Yakima to Portland was showing 'en route' in BlueShip but the GPS feed dropped and no exception alert fired - the system kept assigning a second pickup to that same truck without warning. With 16 years running an 85-truck fleet in the Pacific Northwest, I've seen scheduling glitches, but this one cost us: five hours of detention plus a $900 customer penalty and a very unhappy receiver. The rate-comparison screen praised the second pickup as the 'best' option, yet it clearly didn't reflect carrier availability in real time; that mismatch is what burned us. Support response was slow, our IT dug through webhook logs and found failures, and we spent two full days untangling shipments instead of running trucks.
