Missouri Harvey's review of ShipHawk

The mobile app's real-time tracking is actually useful - I can see pickups and handoffs without calling every broker. But it locks up when I'm trying to book, and once it printed a label in the wrong size so I had to reprint at the terminal; that kind of hiccup kills time on the road. Two trucks and five years in the Midwest makes me torn: I use it for tracking every day, yet I still keep a backup paper process because the app isn't reliable enough for everything.

When the morning rush hits and the hub goes haywire, ShipHawk sometimes saves my skin - rate shopping spits out options fast and labels print without me babysitting. But about once every couple weeks something locks up or a carrier confirmation never comes and we end up calling support and rebooking the whole thing, which for a five-truck outfit in the PNW is maddening. I’m torn - it cuts workload a lot when it behaves, but its reliability bumps make it hard to trust for tight windows.

What I liked most was the platform's automatic failover when a carrier pulled out at the last minute. On a Friday night we had an urgent pallet bound for a hospital in Atlanta and our primary carrier canceled; ShipHawk re‑rate‑shopped, booked an alternate carrier, generated labels and paperwork, and pushed updated tracking and driver instructions in under twenty minutes so the shipment still left before the cutoff and the customer never knew there'd been a hiccup. With twelve years running a 55‑truck operation in the Southeast, outages usually cascade - this one did not, and that reliability is why I give it four stars.

Yesterday a consignee moved a pickup window and I changed the booking on the fly; the mobile app reprinted a new label and pushed the update to the driver's phone in under a minute. I run two trucks in the Midwest and that one quick label/re-route save paid for the app for a month - solid day-to-day tool, the map view can be glitchy now and then though.
