Rico Zemlak's review of project44

The ETA accuracy blew me away compared to the clunky system I used before. Used to get 30–45 minute windows that were useless; project44’s real-time updates actually matched when my trailer showed up, which saved me a bunch of wait time. I’m an owner-operator in the Southwest and only a year in, so I def appreciate the cleaner data - not perfect but way less guessy when scheduling.

Bottom line: the mobile app gets the job done most days but frustrates just as often. The live tracking and ETA updates are usually trustworthy - when the signal holds - and that reliability has bailed me out of a few scheduling headaches. I've been running a 120-truck fleet in the Midwest for 25 years, and my drivers openly grumble about buried buttons, long forms, and a check-in flow that spits them back to the map at the worst moment. Offline mode will queue updates but occasionally loses last-mile proof, and leaving GPS on for an eight-hour shift drains phones faster than it should. I keep project44 in our stack for the network reach and cleaner data, yet the everyday UX still feels like a compromise rather than something drivers enjoy using.

During a three-day port strike in Seattle last December, project44’s near-real-time ETAs pointed us to alternate carriers and saved two long deadhead runs. The platform is expensive - the annual fees and integration costs pushed our budget - but the reduction in detention charges and recovered driver hours meant we recouped most of it within a few months. Four stars: cost is high for a 30-truck fleet, yet that single accuracy in ETA and carrier data made the expenditure worthwhile.

Last Tuesday a scheduled pickup disappeared from project44's live map an hour before arrival and the ETA froze while the receiver charged us a detetion fee. I manage 15 trucks in the Southeast and after five years of juggling tight lanes, the stale location data and missed alerts cost us a same-day window and one important account. Support was slow to respond and the systen's unrealiable updates make it risky to depend on for time-critical moves.
