Mae Kris's review of Locus

What I liked most was how the onboarding team handled our messy address database - they had it cleaned, geocoded, and usable in Locus in under two weeks. With 150 trucks and 28 years of patchwork routing behind us, I expected long delays; instead they mapped our legacy route IDs through a simple CSV workflow and a couple of targeted calls that actually saved me evenings. There were a few rural geocoding quirks, but an engineer fixed the parsing rules the same day so our pilot stayed on schedule. The dispatch rules were implemented without forcing us to rewrite SOPs, so drivers adapted quickly. If you’re dreading data migration, this one is less painful than it sounds - hands-on help made the difference.

When a sudden mountain-pass closure forced me to reroute half my afternoon loads, Locus re-planned routes and gave ETAs that actually matched reality so customers stopped calling; that one feature saved the day. It isn't cheap for a three-truck owner-operator out here in the Pacific Northwest and the sticker shock was real, but the fuel and overtime saved that week covered the bill - four stars.

Bottom line: Locus can materially help our delivery ops, but their support is a roll of the dice. When it's good - like the one night our account rep coordinated a late patch that stopped route exceptions from cascading and saved us a weekend - it felt like real partnership. Too often, though, tickets go dark for 48+ hours or you're bounced through chat reps who don't grasp our multi-carrier, regional quirks and only offer canned workarounds. Managing about 100 trucks in the Pacific Northwest, that inconsistency cost us actual delays during peak weeks and made scaling tougher than it should be. We're torn: the platform reduces routing costs when help shows up, but the unpredictable service makes it hard to trust for mission-critical incidents.

Support actually saved a run for me last month - our route mapping glitched and a rep jumped in, pushed a fix within a few hours, and checked back twice the next day. After 22 years driving and running a tiny three-truck fleet in the Midwest, it’s rare to find someone on the other end who understands what a missed gate window does to the whole day. Would give five if weekend response was better, but overall their human support is the reason we stuck with Locus.
