Adonis Kerluke's review of Saddle Creek Logistics Services
Last Tuesday at our Tacoma yard a pallet slated for three-route distribution came back as 28 individual parcel labels after Saddle Creek's optimizer reclassified it overnight. Their parcel optimization feature clearly does its math - we saved nearly 18% on parcel spend in the monthly report - but the overnight change meant drivers spent three hours pulling, re-bagging and re-routing instead of rolling. I run 75 trucks across the Pacific Northwest, so a three-hour hit at one node ripples through the whole day and clients called asking where shipments were. Support was polite and the portal shows granular options to tweak rules, but toggling those rules felt like putting a bandage on a wound that keeps reopening. So I'm torn: it's a valuable cost tool for non-urgent SKUs, but we now lock it off on time-sensitive lanes and treat its recommendations with suspicion.
