I run a one-truck operation in the Southwest and I've been using nShift for about a year now. Price was my main worry but the rate-compare tool cut carrier costs enough to pay for the subscription in a couple months - def worth it. The side-by-side cost view made me happy; UI gets laggy sometimes but it saved me on a few big runs so im satisfied.
Customer support is the worst part of using nShift for us. We had a carrier cutover go sideways on a Friday and the ticket sat in “open” with canned replies for three days while drivers sat idle. That delay cost us several missed pickups and roughly $4,200 in detention and rework - and the named account rep stopped answering after promising a priority escalation. Phone callbacks never matched ticket status, and the support engineers we did reach lacked the carrier-specific knowledge to fix label mapping issues quickly. The interface and multi-carrier features work in theory, but when something breaks the slow, disorganized support negates any benefit; we run 150 trucks in the Northeast and can’t carry that kind of downtime.
Bottom line: nShift's customer service kept our operations moving during a critical carrier migration. When a carrier API change mangled our label layout over a weekend, their assigned rep stayed on a call with our IT lead, edited the mapping live, and had corrected labels printing within a few hours - that single act saved a full day of rework. For my 60-truck fleet in the Southeast, having a knowledgeable person who actually owns the fix made all the difference.
