Nine years on the road in the Northeast has made me picky about subscriptions, so I gave Axis TMS a spin after my dispatcher pushed it. The real-time tracking and cloud dashboard are handy, but that monthly price feels steep compared to how much of it I actually use - nice features I didn't need every day. I'm torn: if you run a small fleet it might pay off, but for a company driver like me it didn't quite cover the cost.
Bottom line: worth the price for what it actually does. I was skeptical - price wasn't cheap - but the live ETA map cut driver check-ins and admin time so much that, after nine years dispatching in the Southeast for a 60-truck outfit, it paid for itself in about six weeks. Only gripe is the add-on fees when you scale up, but that one feature made my day-to-day a lot less chaotic.
Terrible reliability - AXIS went down right when I needed to reroute after a truck failure. Had 25 trucks in the Midwest; we were blind to ETAs for three hours, lost two loads and paid roughly $1,200 in detention and deadhead trying to scramble drivers.
The mobile app's offline photo upload that auto-syncs when you get signal - that one feature alone sold me. I run solo in the Southwest and cell drops all the time, but I can snap POD pics, jot a quick note, and it pushes to dispatch once I'm back on LTE; no more texting photos or waiting around. Easy to use and fast, it realy shaves minutes off my day.
